Computer Aided Facilities Management - CAFM
Computer Aided Facilities Management, or CAFM, includes the tracking of a building's facilities, assets, and spaces using
integrated drawings and databases. CAFM systems include live Open Database Connections (ODBC) between drawings and
data. Key features of CAFM systems are the ability to update information on the drawings from data and vice versa.
Easy Navigation
Some CAFM systems include special interfaces that allow casual users to navigate through the data more easily. Terms for
such interfaces may be called Executive Information Systems (EIS) or Drill Downs. An Executive Information System, such as
the ARCHIBUS® product, creates a very simple scenario that is customized to fit the most casual user's asset reporting
needs. It cuts the data to a minimum, and uses lively graphics to guide the user intuitively to the desired result. Our CAFM
systems are completely customizable to fit your needs.
Data Drill Down
Data drill down is a term used by many software developers. It describes a scenario where information is retrieved using simple
graphics or photos with click-able "hot spots", much like hyperlinks within an image, that will let you sift through the
information to a smaller selection set with each pick. This allows the user to start with, e.g., a country, then a state,
then a city, then a building, then a floor, etc. Each pick presents the user with a closer view of the information "world".
